SKIN FRICTION DRAG REDUCTION IN TURBULENT FLOWS
Bettina Frohnapfel
Abstract: Skin friction drag reduction in turbulent flows is typically motivated from the viewpoint of energy savings. The presentation discusses how drag reduction can be evaluated in terms of energy savings and provides an overview of the present state of the flow control literature in this respect. In addition, it is discussed which specific properties of internal and external flows should be considered when evaluating turbulent drag reduction.
